What date and time will Eternals arrive on Disney Plus?

Now, Eternals follows in the footsteps of Shang-Chi, which is already available to watch on Disney Plus, through its release on the same streaming service.

The epic centuries-spanning film introduces us to a group of immortal superheroes who carry a mighty purpose for their god-like masters the Celestials.

The Eternals cast includes the likes of Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie and many more.

Eternals release date and time on Disney Plus

Eternals will be available on the platform from Wednesday 12th January 2022 at 8am BST.

This means there's roughly the same gap between the cinema release and Disney Plus release as there was for the previous MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, with roughly two months passing between its theatrical and streaming debuts.

What is Eternals about?

Based on Jack Kirby’s Marvel Comics series, Eternals centres on an immortal human species sent to Earth to protect humans from the Deviants, a monstrous race of near-immortal who have been genetically enhanced by the Celestials.

Prior to the film’s release, the only direct connection to Eternals in the MCU has been the name-dropping of Thanos’ father in Avengers: Infinity War.

Eternals was written by Ryan Firpo and Matthew K. Firpo, with Chloé Zhao (The Rider, Nomadland) directing.

Who stars in Eternals?

Gemma Chan plays the empathetic Eternal known as Sersi who loves to be close to humanity, while Richard Madden portrays the powerful warrior Eternal known as Ikaris who is Sersi's long-time love that she separated from decades ago.

Lia McHugh plays the character Sprite, Sersi's best friend and eternally youthful-looking Eternal.

Brian Tyree Henry portrays Phastos, a hyper-intelligent Eternal who is the first openly gay superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Phastos' marriage to husband Ben (Haaz Sleiman) marks the first time a Marvel Studios film has showcased a same-sex couple.

The Walking Dead actress Lauren Ridloff plays the speedster Eternal named Makkari and is the first deaf superhero in the MCU.

Irish actor Barry Keoghan portrays the aloof Eternal known as Druig, while Don Lee plays the strong Eternal known as Gilgamesh.

Meanwhile, Salma Hayek (The Hitman's Bodyguard, House of Gucci) plays the role of the Eternals' maternal leader, Ajak.

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington stars as Dane Whitman, a human professor at the British National History museum who is the current boyfriend of Sersi.

Finally, Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie plays Thena in Eternals, an elite and powerful warrior who can form a golden spear by manipulating cosmic energy.
